Tour Logistics

What:     The Children’s Garden Program field trips offer experiential learning opportunities about growing food, good nutrition, and garden/farm ecology.  The field trips take place in the Ecological Garden at the UC Davis Student Farm where flowers, vegetables, fruit trees, herbs and other plants grow year-round.  Exploring the garden, farm and surrounding habitat provides an enriching, hands-on learning experience.  
              
Who:      K-4 students at schools in Davis, Dixon, West Sacramento, Winters and Woodland.  We schedule two classes, or up to 40 students, for each tour period. 
           
When:   Tuesdays-Thursdays from April 1-June 5, 2008.  Specific dates and times are:

  • Tuesdays from 9:30-11:15am*

  • Wednesdays from 9:30-11:15am*           

  • Thursdays from 9:30-11:15am*    

  • Thursdays from 12:30-2:00pm*  

*     Morning tours for K-1 students will end at 11:00am.

Where:  The Ecological Garden at the UC Davis Student Farm. Directions will be provided after tours are scheduled.

Cost:      $2.00/child, no charge for adults.   Field trip fee is due the day of your tour.   Parents and chaperones driving personal vehicles will need to pay the $6.00 campus parking fee.  

How:      Return the Reservation Request Form by October 31st.   We will conduct a lottery on November 1st and schedule tours according to their lottery number.    You will be notified of your tour date and time by November 2nd.  Please note that there are a limited number of tours offered each year and sending in your request form does not guarantee you a spot.
